The Home Improvement Council of Western New York was organized in 1963 at the request of members concerned with upgrading the standards and image of the home remodeling industry.
One of the most important missions of our Council is to serve the home improvement consumer by requiring adherence to the highest standards of business practice among our members. Our members know that consumer confidence has to be earned. The various programs offered by the HIC to its members are geared to produce professionalism in all aspects of running a home remodeling and construction business. Our members have the opportunity to keep abreast of the latest developments in products, applications, and innovations, which pertain to their particular specialties.
The HIC prides itself on its strong relationship with the Better Business Bureau of Western New York and the New York State Attorney General's Office.
The HIC has developed an in house free quoting system called SafeQuote. On our home page of our website you will need to register with basic information and then you can access our Request a Quote form. We will notify our member contractors that a potential job is available. Therefore your project will only be sent to the contractors that specialize in the type of work you are in need of. You can then log in at any time after you submit the request to view the status.
When you use the no-cost, no-obligation estimate appointment system, you may receive up to 4 free quotes from our contractor. The HIC has done the legwork to make sure they meet our qualifications to make sure you are hiring a reputable, and quality contractor. It is at your discretion once the contact is made whether our member will discuss your project over the phone or if an onsite visit to review the job will be required.
Contractors will only be able to view the scope of the work that you submitted and the geographical area the work is to be done. Only contractors who can provide the services, for which you are requesting bids, will request your contact information be sent to them. Once 4 contractors have requested your information, your job will no longer be available to our contractors to view. You will receive an email notification each time one of our contractors selects to bid on your job. This email will include their contact information as well.
What you can be assured of is all our members operate by the HIC high code of honor and ethics, or in other words they are “a good contractor.” A good contractor will save you time, hassles, and money, making your project go smoothly.
